
Jeddah (UNA) – On the occasion of the International Day for Tolerance 2025, the Independent Permanent Human Rights Commission of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation stressed that promoting tolerance, mutual respect and interfaith dialogue is the foundation for building safe and cohesive societies.
The Authority affirmed that Islamic values are based on the principles of justice, equality, and the preservation of human dignity without discrimination, principles that are consistent with international frameworks, including the Universal Declaration of Human Rights and the Vienna Declaration.
The Authority renewed its commitment to supporting dialogue between civilizations and religions, in accordance with the Charter of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation and the Cairo Declaration.
She also stressed that cultural and religious diversity is a source of strength that should be used to promote understanding and coexistence, especially in light of the growing global hate speech.
The Authority called on media outlets and digital platforms to play a responsible role in disseminating a culture of moderation and protecting societies from incitement and division. It also stressed the importance of involving women and youth in efforts to promote harmony and build sustainable social peace, affirming its continued commitment to working with member states and international partners to strengthen the values of tolerance and support initiatives aimed at building societies that respect pluralism.
