Riyadh (UNA/SPA) – Under the patronage of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia is hosting today, Friday, the launch of the competitions of the sixth Islamic Solidarity Games, which will continue until November 21, 2025, with the participation of (57) Islamic countries.
Hosting this major sporting event in the capital, Riyadh, reflects the Kingdom’s leading and significant role in consolidating the values of solidarity among the countries of the Islamic world on all levels, including sports, as the tournament returns to the land of the Kingdom, which is the cradle of the idea of holding it and its official launch, after (20) years since it hosted the first edition in the history of the tournament, which was held in Mecca, with the attendance of athletes from various countries of the Islamic world.
On this occasion, Prince Abdulaziz bin Turki bin Faisal bin Abdulaziz, Minister of Sports, President of the Saudi Olympic and Paralympic Committee and President of the Islamic Solidarity Sports Federation, said: “This generous royal patronage embodies the great interest that the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques has in joint Islamic action, and continuous support to strengthen the bonds of cooperation and brotherhood between the member states of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, through sports as one of the civilizational bridges that contribute to building bridges of convergence between peoples, and consolidating the values of peace, unity and integration.”
He added: “We are delighted to host more than 3000 male and female athletes from 57 Islamic countries who will participate in more than 22 different sports. We, with God’s permission and with the unlimited support of the leadership of this dear nation, are proceeding to present an exceptional edition that highlights the Kingdom’s tremendous organizational capabilities and its accumulated experience in hosting the largest and most important global sporting events.”

Athletes from various Islamic countries participated in a demonstration filled with the spirit of fair competition, reflecting the Kingdom’s message of support for everything that contributes to unity and promotes the values of peace and brotherhood, while at the same time confirming its leading role in serving the issues of the Islamic world at all levels.
