
Jakarta (UNA/SPA) – Speaker of the Shura Council Sheikh Dr. Abdullah bin Mohammed bin Ibrahim Al Al-Sheikh headed the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia’s delegation participating in the 19th session of the Parliamentary Union of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) Member States Conference, held in Jakarta, Republic of Indonesia.
In a press statement on this occasion, the Speaker of the Shura Council indicated that the Kingdom, under the leadership of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, and His Royal Highness Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, Crown Prince and Prime Minister, continues its unwavering and continuous support for everything that would strengthen unity in the Islamic world. This stems from its pioneering role and pivotal position, and its constant keenness to consolidate the values of cooperation and solidarity, thus contributing to serving the causes of the Islamic world and the world as a whole, and enhancing stability and development.
Al-Sheikh emphasized the pivotal role played by councils and parliaments in strengthening cooperation and integration among the countries of the Islamic world. He noted in this context the importance of parliamentary diplomacy in building bridges of communication and developing friendly and cooperative relations among peoples. He also praised the important role played by the Union of Parliamentary States of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) and its effective efforts in supporting common causes.
