
Jeddah (UNA) - Under the direction of Prince Khalid Al-Faisal, Advisor to the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, Governor of Makkah Region and Chairman of the Central Hajj Committee, his deputy, Prince Saud bin Mishaal bin Abdulaziz, chaired the committee's meeting to review the readiness plans for the last ten days of the current month of Ramadan, and to follow up on the discussion of the authorities' plans for Hajj 1446 AH.
The Deputy Emir of Makkah Region was briefed on the work of the authorities during the last ten days of Ramadan, most notably the crowd management plans to control the flow of people and ensure the safety of worshippers and pilgrims.
The committee also reviewed plans to organize traffic management and the readiness of public transportation stations, while the General Presidency for the Affairs of the Grand Mosque and the Prophet’s Mosque presented its work since the beginning of the month and its preparations for the last ten days. During the past fifteen days of the holy month, 10,822,999 iftar meals were provided, 344,36 prayer rugs were spread, 385,776 Zamzam water bottles were distributed, 14,125 m³ of Zamzam water was consumed, 19,128 beneficiaries of the luggage storage service, and 101,712 visitors to the Grand Mosque exhibition.
Regarding its most prominent preparations for the last ten days of Ramadan, the Authority has prepared prayer areas in coordination with the relevant departments, increasing the number of carpets and incense burners, air-conditioning the elevators to accommodate the large numbers of visitors, providing additional volunteer teams to serve pilgrims and worshippers, increasing the daily number of water bottles, and operating technical teams around the clock to monitor maintenance and renovation work.
The committee discussed a number of other topics on the agenda and made the necessary recommendations.
