Paris (UNA/QNA) – Jordanian King Abdullah II and French President Emmanuel Macron called on Israel to immediately halt its aggression on the Gaza Strip and return to implementing the ceasefire agreement in all its stages.
"Israel's resumption of its attacks on Gaza is an extremely dangerous step that adds further devastation to the already dire humanitarian situation in the Strip," the Jordanian monarch said at a joint press conference with the French president in Paris.
He called on the international community to intensify collective efforts to restore the ceasefire and implement all its phases, warning that the displacement of Palestinians from Gaza and the West Bank threatens to further destabilize the region.
King Abdullah II stressed his rejection of any attempts to displace Palestinians, affirming that the two-state solution is the only way to ensure peace for Palestine and Israel.
For his part, the French president described the resumption of Israeli bombing of the Gaza Strip as a major setback, adding, "Hostile operations must cease immediately, and negotiations must resume in good faith under American auspices."
He continued, "We call for a permanent cessation of hostilities and the release of all hostages in the Gaza Strip," stressing that there will be no Israeli military solution in the Strip.
Macron added, "A political solution must be found, and Arab countries have developed a sound plan for the reconstruction of the Gaza Strip," stressing that establishing a Palestinian state is essential for achieving stability in the region.
