Brussels (UNA/QNA) – The State of Qatar participated in the 9th Donor Conference on Syria, “Standing with Syria: Meeting the Needs for a Successful Transition,” organized by the European Union in Brussels today.
The State of Qatar's delegation to the conference was headed by Her Excellency Mariam bint Ali bin Nasser Al-Misnad, Minister of State for International Cooperation.
In her speech on behalf of the State of Qatar, she noted that this conference comes at a crucial time, following a long period of suffering that has exhausted the Syrian people.
She noted that the State of Qatar has been committed throughout the Syrian crisis to providing humanitarian and relief support to the Syrian people, exceeding two billion US dollars, stemming from its deep belief in the Syrian people's right to a dignified life.
She touched on Qatar's efforts, since the victory of the Syrian revolution and driven by its moral responsibility towards its Syrian brothers, to operate an air bridge to provide relief to our brothers in the Syrian Arab Republic and contribute to addressing their humanitarian situation. In addition, it has provided relief aid through border crossings and natural gas supplies via Jordanian territory, with the aim of addressing the severe shortage in electricity production and improving the performance of infrastructure in Syria.
The Minister of State for International Cooperation reiterated Qatar's full support for Syria and its people's aspirations for freedom, development, and prosperity.
