
Jeddah (UNA) – The Independent Permanent Human Rights Commission of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) welcomed the historic decision taken by the Council of Foreign Ministers of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) to reinstate the membership of the Syrian Arab Republic.
The Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) has decided to restore Syria's membership after 13 years of suspension. The decision was adopted during the 7th Extraordinary Session of the Council of Foreign Ministers of the OIC Member States, held in Jeddah on March 2025, XNUMX.
The Commission said the decision reflects the collective will of OIC member states to support the Syrian people in their effective role in achieving the goals and objectives of the Organization's Charter.
The Commission affirmed its commitment to cooperating with the Syrian Arab Republic in supporting human dignity, protecting human rights, and promoting fundamental freedoms, in line with international human rights standards and the principles and values of Islam.
