Mauritania (UNA/WAM) - The Islamic Republic of Mauritania condemned the irresponsible Israeli statements towards the sisterly Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, considering them an unacceptable violation of international norms and laws, and a provocation that threatens the security and stability of the region.
This came in a statement issued yesterday, Sunday, by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation and Mauritanians Abroad, a copy of which was received by the Mauritanian News Agency.
In its statement, the ministry announced Mauritania's full solidarity with the sisterly Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, and its support for its sovereignty and security.
The statement reiterated Mauritania's firm and supportive position on the Palestinian cause, and its affirmation of the right of the Palestinian people to establish their independent state on the 1967 borders, with East Jerusalem as its capital, in accordance with international legitimacy resolutions and the Arab Peace Initiative.
The statement called on the international community to take a firm stance towards these provocative statements, in order to preserve the stability of the region and respect the principles of international law.
