WHO begins Ebola vaccine trial in Uganda

Kampala (UNA/WAM) - Director-General of the World Health Organization, Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, announced the start of a vaccine trial against Ebola in Uganda, which recently declared an outbreak of the epidemic.
 

Ghebreyesus said in a statement that this trial targets “contacts of infected people and their contacts” and is the first trial to evaluate the clinical effectiveness of a vaccine against Ebola virus disease-Sudan, stressing that the World Health Organization will continue to support the Ugandan government in the global response to control the epidemic.

At the end of last month, Ugandan authorities announced an outbreak of the Ebola virus in the capital, Kampala.
