Ministry of Hajj and Umrah wins World Summit Award “WSA” for 2024

Jeddah (UNA/SPA) - The Ministry of Hajj and Umrah has achieved a new global accomplishment by winning the World Summit Award (WSA) as the sole winner from the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia for the year 2024 for the “Nusuk System” project in the Culture and Heritage category; This came after strong competition with more than 900 technical projects from 160 countries, reflecting the Kingdom’s leadership in developing innovative technical solutions that enhance the experience of the guests of God and highlight cultural and heritage values.

The World Summit Award (WSA), established in 2003, is one of the most important international awards that celebrate influential digital initiatives. The award is given every two years, with the participation of more than 186 countries. It aims to reduce the digital divide globally by honoring smart applications and distinguished electronic content, in addition to being one of the most prominent international initiatives adopted by the International Telecommunication Union.

This win embodies the efforts of the Ministry of Hajj and Umrah in supporting the comprehensive digital transformation, which is one of the goals of Saudi Vision 2030. The Ministry developed the “Nusuk” system as a package of innovative technical solutions that facilitate the performance of rituals, address challenges, and enhance operational efficiency. Accordingly, the Nusuk system was selected among the most influential solutions.

Among the most prominent achievements of the “Nusuk” system is the development of pioneering systems such as the Nusuk Card, Nusuk Masar, and the delegation systems; which contributed to improving and developing procedures. The “Nusuk” application also pays special attention to highlighting the landmarks of the Prophet’s biography and cultural destinations in Makkah and Madinah, where more than 150 prominent landmarks have been added, including museums, antiquities, restaurants, cafes, and tourist destinations, which enrich the users’ experience within the application.

The Nusk app provides the opportunity for more than 400 licensed guides to provide dedicated exploratory trips for the guests of God, in addition to adding more than 100 exploratory tours that highlight the landmarks of Makkah and Madinah, which enhances visitors’ understanding of Islamic heritage and creates an integrated spiritual and cultural experience.

This achievement comes thanks to God and then as a result of the great directives and support that the pilgrims’ service sector receives from the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques and the Crown Prince, as part of the Kingdom’s message to harness technology to serve the Two Holy Mosques and their visitors, and enrich their journey from beginning to end, confirming Saudi Arabia’s leadership in providing a unique and integrated experience for the pilgrims.

For its part, the Ministry of Hajj and Umrah expressed its pride in this global achievement, stressing its ongoing commitment to developing technical solutions that ensure the sustainability of quality in the Hajj and Umrah sector, while enabling the Guests of God to easily access smart services, and enabling them to perform Hajj, Umrah and visit with ease and peace of mind.
