Riyadh (UNA/SPA) - Saudi Crown Prince and Prime Minister Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud announced yesterday, Wednesday, December 11, 2024, the establishment of the "Supreme Authority for Hosting the 2034 World Cup"; This came after the International Federation of Association Football (FIFA) announced the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia's victory in hosting the 2034 FIFA World Cup™.
The Crown Prince chairs the Board of Directors of the Supreme Committee for Hosting the 2034 World Cup, which includes: Prince Abdulaziz bin Turki bin Faisal, Minister of Sports; Prince Abdulaziz bin Saud bin Nayef, Minister of Interior; Prince Badr bin Abdullah bin Farhan, Minister of Culture; Minister of State and Member of the Council of Economic and Development Affairs, Mr. Mohammed Al-Sheikh; Minister of Municipalities and Housing, Mr. Majid Al-Hogail; Minister of Finance, Mr. Mohammed Al-Jadaan; Minister of Communications and Information Technology, Eng. Abdullah bin Amer Al-Sawaha; Minister of Human Resources and Social Development, Eng. Ahmed Al-Rajhi; Minister of Transport and Logistics, Eng. Saleh Al-Jasser; Minister of Tourism, Mr. Ahmed Al-Khateeb; Minister of Health, Mr. Fahd Al-Jalajel; Minister of State and Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Development Bodies Support Center, Eng. Ibrahim Al-Sultan; Chairman of the Board of Directors of the General Entertainment Authority, Mr. Turki Al-Sheikh; Governor of the Public Investment Fund, Mr. Yasser Al-Rumayan; Advisor to the Royal Court, Dr. Fahd Tounsi; Advisor to the Royal Court, Mr. Abdulaziz Tarabzouni; and Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Saudi Football Federation, Yasser Al-Misehal.
The announcement of the establishment of the Authority comes as a confirmation of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia’s determination to present an exceptional version of the most important event in the world of football as the first country in history to host this event with the presence of (48) teams from all continents of the world, in an embodiment of the unprecedented support and interest that the sports sector receives from the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, and Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, Crown Prince and Prime Minister.
Hosting the 2034 FIFA World Cup in Saudi Arabia is a qualitative strategic step that will directly contribute to enhancing the transformation of Saudi sports and raising the level of “quality of life,” which is one of the most prominent programs of the Saudi Vision 2030 executive, which seeks to enhance the participation of citizens and residents in practicing sports, in addition to refining the capabilities of athletes and improving the athletic performance of all sports; making the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia a competitive global destination in hosting the largest international sporting events.
The Kingdom is expected to showcase itself through hosting the 2034 World Cup as an economic, investment, sports, tourism, and financial destination, in addition to cultural and entertainment, as millions of visitors to the Kingdom will get to know its cultural and historical heritage and legacy, and the deep cultural stock that distinguishes it.
