Kuwait (UNA/KUNA) - Oman's Deputy Prime Minister for Cabinet Affairs Sayyid Fahd bin Mahmoud Al Said stressed on Sunday that holding Gulf summits regularly increases cohesion among the GCC countries and enhances the council's position in the international community and its ability to address common challenges and achieve more progress and prosperity for all its countries.
In a speech at the 45th session of the Supreme Council of the Gulf Cooperation Council in Kuwait, Al Said stressed the Sultanate of Oman’s determination to continue joint efforts in all areas of cooperation to consolidate security and stability in the region and to interact with current issues.
He thanked the Emir of the State of Kuwait, Sheikh Meshal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, for assuming the presidency of the current session of the Supreme Council, expressing his appreciation for the warm reception and hospitality for the work of the current session of the Council, wishing it success and guidance.
He praised the distinguished and successful management of the Emir of the State of Qatar, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, of the 44th session of the Supreme Council of the Leaders of the Gulf Cooperation Council countries.
He conveyed the greetings of Sultan Haitham bin Tariq, Sultan of Oman, and his good wishes for the success of this summit.
He concluded his speech by thanking and appreciating the Secretary-General and the work team at the General Secretariat of the Gulf Cooperation Council for the good preparation for this summit, wishing them success and permanent fulfillment in achieving the aspirations of the Council’s leadership towards a better future.
Al Said praised in a press statement upon his arrival in Kuwait the achievements of the Cooperation Council since its establishment in many economic, social, legislative and scientific fields, saying that more efforts must be made to preserve them and enhance cooperation and integration between the Gulf peoples who share a common history.
He added that the rapid developments on the regional and international arenas require an exchange of views to reach a unified vision to coordinate positions and determine the best ways to deal with developments and challenges so that countries can devote themselves to continuing their development path aimed at serving their peoples and meeting the aspirations of successive generations.
He stressed the Sultanate of Oman's continued support for the good path of the Cooperation Council, expressing his great appreciation to the State of Kuwait for its efforts in this path.
