Makkah (UNA) – The Muslim World League appreciated the tireless efforts of the “Allied to Save Lives and Achieve Peace in Sudan” group to alleviate the suffering of the Sudanese people, save lives, and achieve a permanent cessation of hostilities.
In a statement issued by the League, its Secretary-General, Chairman of the Muslim Scholars Association, His Eminence Sheikh Dr. Muhammad bin Abdul Karim Al-Issa, expressed the League’s full support and great appreciation for the efforts of the group consisting of: the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, the United States of America, the Swiss Confederation, the United Arab Emirates, the Arab Republic of Egypt, the African Union, and the United Nations, which operates based on the Jeddah Declaration and under the auspices of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
His Eminence stressed the urgent need for the Sudanese parties to respond to the group’s call to open additional border crossings, as more than 25 million people face severe hunger and famine.
The Association appreciated the group's commitment to saving the Sudanese people, and its continued work to deliver humanitarian aid and protect civilians, especially with the aid reaching about 300 people in Darfur last week, and the ceasefire initiatives and ending the war in Sudan.
