Cairo (UNA) - The Women’s Development Organization will hold a virtual symposium entitled “Palestinian Women and Girls: Challenges and Resilience” on Monday, August 12, 2024, at 2:00 pm Cairo time. The symposium aims to shed light on the daily challenges faced by Palestinian women and girls, highlight their stories of resilience, and discuss initiatives to build a better future.
Palestinian women and girls face serious challenges as a result of the ongoing war. The symposium seeks to discuss the impacts of this conflict on the lives of women and girls, and to exchange ideas about possible solutions and the support needed for them.
An elite group of officials will participate in the symposium sessions, including Her Excellency Ms. Mona Al-Khalili, Palestinian Minister of Women’s Affairs, Her Excellency Dr. Afnan Al-Shuaibi, Executive Director of the Women’s Development Organization, and His Excellency Dr. Ali Qutali, Director of the Palestine and Jerusalem Department at the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, on behalf of His Excellency Mr. Hussein Ibrahim Taha. , Secretary-General of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, His Excellency Mr. Moez Duraid, Director of the Regional Office for Arab States at UN Women, His Excellency Mrs. Sahar Al-Jubouri, Head of the Office of the Representative of the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees “UNRWA” in Cairo, and His Excellency Mr. Captain Al-Makkawi Benaissa, Secretary-General of the Union of Arab Lawyers, and Dr. Hanan Al-Qa’i, Director of Strategic Companies at the Women’s Development Organization.
The symposium will discuss vital topics including the daily challenges facing women and girls in Gaza, envisioning the future through post-war initiatives, the role of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation in promoting the rights of Palestinian women and girls, building international solidarity and support, and the upcoming Women’s Development Organization report on Palestinian women and girls.
