Statement by Arab leaders at the Bahrain Summit on the aggression against Gaza

Manama (UNA/SPA) - The thirty-third regular session of the Council of the League of Arab States at the summit level, (the Bahrain Summit), issued a statement by the Arab leaders on the aggression against Gaza, the text of which follows: We, the Arab leaders, condemn in the strongest terms the continuation of the brutal Israeli aggression against The Gaza Strip and the crimes committed against civilians of the Palestinian people, and the unprecedented Israeli violations of international law and international humanitarian law, including targeting civilians and civilian facilities, using siege weapons, starvation, and attempts at forced displacement, and the resulting killing and injury of tens of thousands of innocent Palestinians.

We also condemn the extension of the Israeli aggression to the Palestinian city of Rafah, which has become a refuge for more than a million displaced people, and the catastrophic humanitarian consequences that result from that, and we condemn the control of the Israeli occupation forces on the Palestinian side of the Rafah crossing, which aims to tighten the siege on civilians, which led to the cessation of the crossing’s operation. and the flow of humanitarian aid.

We demand an immediate and permanent ceasefire in Gaza, an end to all attempts at forced displacement, an end to all forms of siege, allowing full and sustainable access to humanitarian aid to the Strip, and the immediate withdrawal of Israel from Rafah.

We also condemn in the strongest terms the Israeli occupation forces’ targeting of humanitarian and international organizations in the Gaza Strip, obstructing their work, the attacks on aid convoys to the Gaza Strip, including the attacks by Israeli extremists on Jordanian aid convoys, and the failure of the Israeli authorities to fulfill their legal responsibilities to provide protection for these convoys. We demand an immediate international investigation into these attacks.

We affirm our continued support of the Palestinian people in all forms in the face of this aggression, and we call on the international community and influential international powers to overcome political calculations and double standards in dealing with international crises and to carry out their assigned moral and legal responsibilities in confronting aggressive Israeli practices, and clearly describing them as a blatant violation of international law. Humanitarian.

We also call for activating the role of relevant international mechanisms to conduct independent and impartial investigations and hold accountable those responsible for the crimes committed against the Palestinian people since the beginning of the Israeli aggression on the Gaza Strip.
