Malaysian Foreign Minister, Mr. Saifuddin Abdullah, explained that the two international conferences are the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) summit, which is scheduled to be held next November, and the United Nations conference in the third week of September 2022. He added that next week, the Prime Minister will make official visits to Qatar and the United Arab Emirates, and there he will also speak in the Malay language. Yesterday, Wednesday, Ismail Sabri indicated that he would consult with ASEAN leaders to make the Malay language a second language of the association, as part of efforts aimed at promoting this language at the international level. Saifuddin stressed that the Malaysian Ministry of Foreign Affairs fully supports the Prime Minister's aspirations and has made the necessary preparations, in terms of proficiency in the Malay language and mastery of the six main languages approved by the United Nations. It is worth noting that the Malay language is an Austronesian language spoken by Malays living in Malaysia, southern Thailand, the Philippines, Singapore, eastern Sumatra and Riau, Indonesia, and some coastal parts of the island of Borneo.
